Now the simplest devices seem to work the best and for the longest amount of time. That’s fairly common sense as there is less things to go wrong in them. Now when Bluetake offered us a few Bluetooth bits, we obviously jumped at the chance to look at them. But this one is really surprising. We have in the past seen the mini mouse, and it’s a great fun product, but this one really strolls into the mainstream market a little unannounced!
Now this mouse is available in a choice of two colours, the nice clean white one and black. Now I could say from the onslaught that this mouse is designed for laptop users or that type of user, but to be fair even though it is called a ‘mini mouse’ it really isn’t. Most people have small hands, so it’s ergonomically designed to fit the smaller hand, and left or right handed may I add with a button swap around function. But that’s not so important at this stage.
An optical mouse that can bind on to your existing Bluetooth set up is important; you really just need to take it out of the packet, install the batteries and turn it on. It’s that simplicity that gives it the greatest appeal, even for gamers. But before anyone thinks ‘yeah but batteries die on you at odd times’, I know that, so do Bluetake, that’s why they included a USB power cable in the box to get you out of that sticky situation.
“It’s surprising how much easier and more natural this position is”
The design of the mouse and layout is something a little different. Most mice incorporate the wheel between the two buttons, sort of centrally and set back. This one is a little further forward and extends out from the front a short way. That way you can operate the buttons and still have control of the wheel without having to pull your finger back, it’s a perfectly comfortable position. It’s surprising how much easier and more natural this position is, and it should be adopted on more mice!
The range of the mouse is about 30 feet or so dependant on line of sight but it’s plenty for what you need. The mouse response is very fast and its tracking is incredibly accurate. The bright LED underneath is for the tracking, but the blue one is for pairing so don’t get them confused, you do need to pair them for them to work together with your USB Bluetooth adaptor.
For simplicity, you can’t fault the mouse, the drivers are easy to install, the power backup by a cable is a good thought but not necessarily essential to everyone. Knowing it’s an option is good forethought by the Bluetake team. The 800DPI resolution gives the excellent tracking and the power switch on the underside saves the batteries. It’s a nice simple to operate mouse that for gamers would give a good response, it is that good guys try it for yourself! You would be hard pressed to find a mouse that offers a much as this one for the price, and yes the white one can get grubby looking faster than the black one most mice are already sold in white, or ‘off white’ shades so what difference is that? Once again Bluetake exercise there prowess in the Bluetooth market by flexing their muscles with a new twist on an existing product, and only making better.
